Introduction

The mind is powerful. It can create narratives that lead to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, fear, or uncertainty about where one belongs in the world. The mind also has the capacity to adapt and rewire—learning new patterns, rewriting old narratives, and strengthening pathways that support self-esteem, hope, and meaning. In this process, you are the expert and author of your own story. When you feel lost, the therapeutic space offers an opportunity to share your experiences, explore your role in your story, and consider how you would like future pages to be written. I approach my work with a blend of warmth and directness, helping clients actively move toward their goals while fostering a relational connection. I prioritize collaboration, blending my professional knowledge with your expertise in your own life experiences. I believe every person has a story, and I strive to understand not just diagnoses or symptoms, but the full context of each client’s experiences—how they have survived, adapted, and thrived to be where they are today. Especially in this time where mental health is in the spotlight, I aim to normalize the human experience rather than pathologize it. Sometimes this includes exploring patterns of coping that are familiar but no longer serve you. My approach emphasizes mental health and personal strengths over mental illness. I have had the opportunity to work with many individuals and families navigating severe and persistent mental health challenges, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and unexpected life changes. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Fort Hays State University. Though I am native to Hutchinson, I feel a strong connection to Western Kansas, where my professional career took root. I value humor, integrity, honesty, collaboration, individuality, and authenticity, and I strive to bring these qualities into the professional relationship to create a supportive and empowering environment for growth.
