Are these thoughts familiar: "Why...?" "I can't seem to get out of this rut!" "I'm so tired of being tired." "I'm not me anymore." "I can't concentrate. I can't sleep. I worry all the time." Depression, anxiety, and grief are often the result of difficult events. The effects of trauma are forced upon us. Our body remembers and, over time, creates defenses that help us get through the experience. Our body speaks to us, but most often we either do not listen or do not understand what it is saying. I'll work with you to learn your body's language, bring unconscious responses to the surface, and reframe them in meaningful terms. My approach is based on cognitive behavioral therapy and intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy. Through these evidence-based theoretical lenses, I offer you a way to identify how defenses prevent experiencing feeling and bring on symptoms and presenting problems... and then we work to build an internal connection to feeling, creating adaptive action. I will listen. I do not judge. Your life experiences have brought you to this point. I will work to help you untangle the thoughts and feelings that keep you tied down. Together, we can make sense of the whys behind the what... and fix it. If you have come to a point in your life where you are out of answers... come in. It is time to lay your burdens down.
