Introduction

Welcome to The Essence Behavioral Health, a group psychotherapy practice founded by Gwendolyn Williams Satchell, LCSW, after more than 30 years in social work, our practice grew from a passion for helping people heal and reducing mental health stigma in Black and Brown communities. Our multicultural team serves children ages 7 and older, adolescents, adults, and seniors. We support individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Our approaches include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with care tailored to your needs. Christian counseling is also available for those who wish to incorporate faith into therapy. Through in-person and telehealth services, we offer a compassionate space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. Together, we help you process difficult experiences, build practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful change. At The Essence, we believe in healing beyond the surface.
