Hi There! My journey towards a counseling career started in 2013 by serving at a non-profit offering equine-assisted support to children in crisis. Through that work, I discovered a passion for partnering with children and families in their growth and healing. I had the privilege of serving children ranging in age from 5-18 years old who were facing challenges from a wide variety of life circumstances including: foster care, adoption, abuse, parental divorce, grief, parental substance abuse, incarceration of family members, bullying, self-harm, and suicidality. As a counselor, I love building a therapeutic relationship with clients built on safety, trust, and collaboration. I seek to meet each client where they are and compassionately walk alongside them to reach their treatment goals. Areas of particular interest and experience include anxiety, ADHD, trauma, emotional regulation issues, life transitions, adoption, attachment issues, parenting challenges, and biblically-based counseling upon request. I draw from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Child-Centered Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness practices among others. I live in Cary with my husband and son. In my free time I love reading, hiking, kayaking, and spending time outdoors with my husband and son. I also love animals, especially horses and dogs. It is a personal dream to provide animal-assisted therapy one day!
