Introduction

Harper is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina. She is a graduate of East Carolina's Counselor Education Master’s program with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to that, she graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's in Psychology. Through her undergraduate coursework, Harper served as a childcare volunteer at a domestic violence shelter, as well as, interning at a substance use facility for homeless women in Raleigh. She has worked and volunteered in a variety of different settings, but prefers the deeper counseling relationships and flexibility that private practice has to offer. Harper served on staff with Cornerstone through her practicum and internship experiences during her graduate program and is thrilled to be on staff full time since graduation in 2021. She is passionate about helping adults and families who are experiencing a variety of concerns such as: trauma and PTSD, anxiety, domestic violence and mild to moderate depression. Harper enjoys Biblical integration with clients as well, upon request. Harper is an EMDR Therapist™ (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and implements it with clients experiencing a variety of concerns, from PTSD to anxiety and depression. She enjoys the flexibility EMDR provides for all clients and believes it is a highly effective form of treatment for all clients with a majority of presenting concerns. As a counselor, Harper believes that the most important part of counseling and growth as an individual is the therapeutic relationship. She seeks to come alongside her clients and work to support them in the ways they need it most. Since all individuals have unique needs, she works to find the best approach for each client on an individual basis, pulling from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) techniques, as well as many others. Harper is open to meeting with clients both in-person and online. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, serving at her local church, reading, going to barre classes, and traveling.
