Introduction

Heather Dotson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Experimental Psychology and a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Alabama A&M University. Heather has worked as a school-based counselor in the elementary and middle school realm with local schools. Heather provides diagnostic evaluations, individual therapy, and psychoeducational testing for children, adolescents, and adults. Heather is passionate about providing a safe place for clients to explore emotional struggles in a warm environment; she enjoys psychological testing and has trained in the administration, scoring, and reporting of testing for ADHD, intelligence, and achievement. Heather enjoys psychological testing and counseling to help individuals identify, understand, and work through life and academic difficulties. Heather has training and experience working with individuals with ADHD, anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, adjustment problems, self-harm/suicidal ideation, life transitions, and ASD. Heather utilizes a variety of techniques including play, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment, behavior management, and instructing parents, individual, and children in the use of positive coping skills. Heather and her husband live in Huntsville and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
