Hi, I'm Heather Helton, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) based in Hickory, North Carolina. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University, where I discovered my passion for helping people find healing, hope, and peace, especially when life feels overwhelming. That passion led me to pursue specialized training in trauma-informed and neuro-informed care, and I'm also an EMDRIA Associate Member trained in EMDR therapy. I work with clients navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, and the kind of quiet overwhelm that builds even when you're doing all the "right" things. My approach pays attention to both mind and body, recognizing that symptoms like anxiety, shutdown, or self-doubt are often survival responses rather than personal failures. Using EMDR and neuro-informed interventions, I help clients gently process painful memories and stuck patterns without needing to relive every detail, so the nervous system can settle and real change can take root. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, messy feelings and all. Together, we slow things down, honor your pace, and work toward helping you feel more grounded, self-trusting, and at ease in your life, not just checking boxes on a coping-skills list, but building change that actually fits your real life. I offer both in-person sessions in Hickory and online therapy across North Carolina, and I'd be honored to be part of your healing journey.
