Introduction

Hello! Welcome to Solid Ground Therapy! I'm so glad you're here. Just considering seeing a therapist can seem like a big step. It can be intimidating when you're not sure what to expect or whether this is even the right decision. My name is Heather Nitz. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I'm here to listen, understand your goals, and work with you to find the peace and quality of life you deserve. Originally from a small town in western Montana, I have been working as a therapist since earning my MSW from Walla Walla University, Billings campus in 2011. I am also an Intermediate student training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Having worked with people of all ages, facing a variety of issues, from students in Kindergarten to 12th grade, to adults facing chronic mental illness and homelessness, I will bring my experience and professional perspective to our work together. While I have training in several different approaches, I am honing my practice to facilitate healing by working from a body-oriented perspective. This means helping you tune into the ways in which your body responds to and carries both the ups and downs of daily life, as well as more significant adverse experiences. By getting to know your nervous system in this way, we can help shift these patterns to help you achieve your goals for emotional wellness!
