Having spent much of her adult life living in remote and underdeveloped places outside of her passport country, Heather has experienced the feeling of isolation and loneliness with no access to help when things were most difficult. Heather has navigated tremendous loss, grief and transitions that come with living in war torn and unstable locations, and has walked alongside her four TCK children and adult TCK husband in the process. For this reason, Heather specializes in supporting expats, missionaries, Third Culture Kids (TCKs), international students, and Foreign Service families navigating identity, belonging, transition, and cross-cultural life. Her practice, Dwell Counseling, was formed to provide a place of peace, acceptance, and hope for clients working through the challenges of cross-cultural life. Heather believes curiosity, humility, and genuine connection are essential to the counseling relationship, and is committed to helping clients feel respected, valued, and understood. For those who desire it, she can thoughtfully integrate faith and spirituality into the counseling process. All sessions are offered online, providing flexibility for clients living internationally.
