You bring the issues, what you've tried so far, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I provide information, perspective, skills teaching and practice, and a supportive ally who appreciates how hard and weird this can be while all the time recognizing your humanity and courage. Together we build a working relationship through exploration of your feelings, beliefs, and experiences. I have years of training and experience in this field as well as in life. We start with understanding where you are and where you hope to be. I think of it as "How do I get there from here?" Then we work through the process of recognizing burdens, beliefs, and/or behaviors which do not support the life you want to lead and how to let them go, tweak them, replace them... or even accept them. I will respect your autonomy and choice throughout.
