Introduction

Maybe you’ve been the person who handles things. You might have grown up helping your family, figuring things out, keeping the peace, or just learning pretty early that you couldn’t rely on other people to take care of things. Being independent probably became part of who you are. But sometimes it also means you’re exhausted from always being the one who has it together. You might overthink conversations, feel guilty saying no, take on other people’s problems, have a hard time asking for help, or stay quiet about what you need. Maybe you’re doing well, but you don’t feel as okay as everyone thinks you are. I’m Heidy Davila, a bilingual Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m first-generation and was raised in a Guatemalan household in Los Angeles, so I understand that family, culture, responsibility, and expectations can get complicated. My work is relational and trauma-informed, and I also incorporate mindfulness and parts work. More than anything, I want therapy to be a place where you can be honest about what’s actually going on and not just what you think you’re supposed to be feeling. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on before reaching out. We can start there. The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. You can tell me a little about what’s been going on, ask any questions you have, and see if I might be a good fit for you.
