Hello and welcome to my page! I am Helene, and I am Clinical Intern at Kenosis Counseling. I chose to become a therapist because I have always been passionate about people, relationships, and cultivating a deep understanding of ourselves and the world around us. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy and I specialize in treating couples, families, and individuals. I approach each client with nonjudgment, curiosity, and compassion so that I can create a space where they feel safe to show up as their most authentic self. I am trained in systems theory, which means I look at the broader context of an individual or relationship's current situation. I draw from various modalities, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and the Gottman Method. I appreciate parts work and EFT specifically for couples because they examine the primary emotions going on underneath the pain. We all feel sadness, abandonment, grief, or disappointment at some point in our lives. Feeling these emotions, let alone sharing them with another human being, can be incredibly vulnerable and scary. It can also be incredibly healing and transformative. I believe this is where true change can happen. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities and feel especially passionate about LGBTQ clients and diverse relationship structures. I embody a very collaborative approach and want to get to know your unique goals for the time we spend together. I will do my best to facilitate a path towards self-discovery, personal growth, and more meaningful connection.
