Reaching out for support takes courage, and Hetheru meets every client with the steadiness, warmth, and respect that moment deserves. Hetheru brings a rare depth of experience to her work. As a Crisis Counselor and Training Specialist for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, she has sat with people in some of their hardest moments, and trained others to do the same, specializing in suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care. That experience shapes how she shows up in the therapy room: calm, present, and unafraid of difficult conversations. She works with adolescents and adults, creating a space where clients feel seen and understood in the full context of their lives, culture, and history. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, Hetheru helps clients make sense of what they're carrying, build practical coping skills, and take real steps toward the change they want. Her focus is on healing, empowerment, and resilience, so clients leave not just feeling better, but feeling more capable. For clients who would like it, Hetheru welcomes integrating Christian faith into counseling, honoring spirituality as a source of strength and meaning. Hetheru holds a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University–C.W. Post and Bachelor's degrees in Children and Youth Studies and Psychology from Brooklyn College. Outside the office, she's an avid traveler who has explored 38 countries and 34 U.S. states, a
