Introduction

I’m Hilla Flohr, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) offering trauma-informed therapy for adults in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, and California through secure virtual sessions and limited in-person appointments in Bethesda, Maryland. I specialize in EMDR therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and body-based approaches that support healing from anxiety, trauma, stress, and life transitions. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me and my approach. Taking the step to look for support can make you feel vulnerable, and it also speaks to something in you that’s ready for care and attention. Whether things feel overwhelming, uncertain, or simply different than you’d like them to be, you don’t have to manage it all on your own. Professional Background I bring more than 15 years of experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Haifa in Israel and my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland. After moving to the United States and completing my MSW, I spent nearly a decade at a domestic violence agency, providing trauma therapy to survivors of intimate partner violence. Through this work, I had the honor of witnessing the strength and resilience people carry, even during some of the most painful and overwhelming moments of their lives. That experience continues to shape how I show up as a therapist today. How I See This Work What continues to draw me to this work is the opportunity to walk alongside people as they reconnect with themselves in more compassionate and authentic ways. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, supportive, and rooted in trust. My role is not to push or rush the process, but to create a space where you can feel safe enough to explore what’s coming up at a pace that feels manageable for you. I integrate approaches such as EMDR therapy, Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, and body-based awareness depending on your unique needs and goals. Who I Work With I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem difficulties, and life transitions. This may include feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself, or noticing patterns that feel difficult to shift on your own. I offer therapy sessions designed to feel flexible, grounded, and accessible, whether you prefer the convenience of virtual therapy or meeting in person in Bethesda, Maryland Trauma-Informed Yin Yoga In addition to my work as a therapist, I’m also a trauma-informed yoga teacher and have spent the past several years teaching trauma-informed Yin yoga to survivors of intimate partner violence. I believe yoga can be a meaningful complement to therapy by supporting nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and a deeper reconnection with the body. At times, I may thoughtfully integrate yoga-based practices into our work together when it feels supportive and aligned with your needs. A Little Outside the Therapy Room Outside of work, I’m also a mom to two beautiful children and two Golden Retrievers. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, moving my body, traveling, and finding moments to slow down when I can. Let’s Connect If you’re ready to begin, or even just curious, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. We can connect, answer any questions you may have, and see whether this feels like a good fit for you.
