Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. If you're new to therapy, think of me as kind of like a friend who loves to have all those "weird" conversations with you, without judgment. A bit about my professional background: I received a Master's of Education in Community Counseling from Seattle University in 2017, followed by additional coursework in a variety of therapeutic subjects. I am grateful for the education I received from clients at Seattle Counseling Service, Youth Eastside Services, and Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center, prior to establishing my private practice in 2021. I am licensed in Oregon and Washington. I especially love working with adult clients who wish to explore the following: people-pleasing dealing with feelings communicating with others relationships & sex processing troubling or traumatic experiences general self-awareness unpacking old beliefs and patterns spending less time wrestling with anxiety or OCD I am a client-centered therapist, which means that I draw on various therapy styles and skills flexibly, in order to best serve your individual needs. I will always endeavor to hold compassionate, non-judgmental space for you, while simultaneously challenging you in service of your goals. I have specific training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), but I like to pepper in concepts and skills, such as mindfulness or polyvagal theory, learned from an assortment of teachers. Some sessions may include creative interventions, as appropriate and if you're open to it. Please let me know if you would like to bring healing practices of your own into sessions, as I would be happy to discuss this. A bit about my personal background: I identify as a White, middle class, queer, neurodivergent, and able-bodied cisgender woman, among other things. I have a background in sex education. I try to practice body acceptance or neutrality most days. I recognize that many of my identities afford me certain privileges; I strive to stay aware of these, and to work with each client from a culturally humble perspective. As a former English major, I'm fond of all kinds of meaning making; sometimes I write poetry that my sister later employs to make fun of me. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and I continue to live here with my partner and two dogs. (I vacuum a lot. It's never enough.) In my free time, you'll find me creating playlists; taking long road trips; singing with friends, sometimes in public; picking up heavy things and putting them back down again; browsing antique malls and movie rental stores; and organizing my closet or rewriting this bio, usually when I'm supposed to be doing something else.
