I'm Irene Akther, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and PsyD student in Clinical Psychology. I believe our early experiences, relationships, and the environments we grow up in shape so much of who we become and how we learn to navigate the world. Even the ways we protect ourselves often began as ways of keeping us safe. In my work, I believe in creating a space where individuals can feel safe enough to be vulnerable, honest, and their authentic selves. I’m compassionate, but I also believe in gently challenging individuals to look at patterns that may no longer be serving them. I believe we can acknowledge what has happened to us while still finding the freedom to choose how we want to move forward. We may not be able to control everything around us, but we can learn to trust ourselves, recognize what is within our control, and make choices that feel more authentic to who we are. Ultimately, I hope to help individuals understand their past without being defined by it, become more present in their lives without being consumed by worries about the future, and trust themselves to choose the path that feels right for them.
