I’m passionate about guiding my clients as they move from a place of disempowerment to one of strength and resilience. I use a person-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy. I know that my clients understand themselves best and that they have the power to make positive change in their lives. I work with my clients to help them reflect on their values, establish goals, and develop the tools to live the lives they want. I always consider my clients’ experiences with trauma and oppression when supporting them. For seven years, I worked as a sex educator and then as a case manager supporting individuals through a range of challenges, including HIV care, mental illness, substance use, and housing insecurity. These experiences inspired me to become a social worker and work with LGBTQ+ clients and clients experiencing identity, sexual, body image, or relationship issues through a sex-positive, body-positive, and kink-positive lens. I am also equipped to work with clients navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, neurodiversity, and trauma. My therapeutic style is grounded in narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I recognize that many Eurocentric theoretical orientations aren’t helpful for all clients, and I bring trauma-informed, decolonizing, anti-oppressive practices into the therapeutic space with my clients. I strive to meet clients where they are to help them feel empowered in the therapy process.
