Introduction

Jake is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) who works with individuals navigating a range of life challenges, including substance use and recovery, traumatic experiences, self-esteem, and personal growth. He understands that people come to counseling at different points in their lives and with different levels of readiness for change, and he believes therapy should begin by meeting each person where they are. His counseling style is direct while still compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental. Jake believes people are most able to grow when they feel respected and understood rather than criticized or defined by the choices they have made. He works to create a space where clients can be honest about where they are, even when they are feeling uncertain, stuck, or not yet sure what change should look like. Jake takes a strength-based approach and works collaboratively with clients to better understand patterns, identify barriers, and build on what is already working. He draws from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT/REBT, Gestalt approaches, and an existential perspective that considers how experiences, choices, values, and sense of meaning shape the way we move through life. Jake believes recovery and personal growth are deeply individual journeys, and that progress is rarely perfectly linear. He also believes meaningful change does not have to happen alone. He is willing to challenge clients when needed while remaining supportive and respectful of their autonomy, pace, and goals. Jake is committed, focused, and willing to address difficult issues head-on. His goal is to work alongside clients as a team—meeting them where they are, recognizing their strengths, confronting barriers together, and helping them move toward meaningful and lasting change.
