I utilize a therapeutic approach that combines aspects of Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-based Therapy, and am open to attempting to help those of all ages. I specialize in working with children and adolescents with either behavioral issues or negative thought patterns, those largely based on previous trauma or difficult life experiences. I focus on helping clients develop emotional awareness and grounding, generate helpful coping skills, and ultimately adopt healthier behaviors and thought processes. My goal is to help others overcome their psychological issues, while also providing an avenue for personal success. I am currently a graduate student in practicum, attending the Master’s Counseling program at Dallas Baptist University (MAPC). My passion and specialization in working with children and adolescents was generated from first working within my mother’s in-home daycare growing up, developing communication and empathic skills. I also gained boots on the ground exposure working at a Residential Treatment Center for children 5-18 years of age in foster care, especially designed to help troubled or disadvantaged children and teens overcome and cope with negative aspects of their environment or experiences. I learned to develop an emotional and therapeutic approach that is uniquely developed on a case to case basis, focusing on what will be the most psychologically sound and effective for each client.
