Great to meet you! Hey y'all, I'm Ja'Lise. I believe I'm a steward, not the owner of the gifts I have and I'm working to package them into three main tenants: Creativity, Compassion, and Connection. They all come together in the company Creative Care & Consulting physically located in MS but remotely in TX, LA, NH, and GA. It's a work in progress, aren't we all? You should know this about me before booking: I am a believer in God and use the Bible in sessions as well as for homework I work as a therapist who believes in therapy for myself I am Creative I am hilarious (at least I think so) I'm opened to all people and walks of life even if I haven't experienced them yet (yup, I'm talking about you!) My approach to therapy My approach to therapy is to be an empathetic witness to your growth! Growth is more than what we see above the soil, it's whats happening under the soil and inside the seed that's MOST important for what becomes visible above the soil. And it takes time! Therapy does NOT work (by itself), you come to therapy to work. And we will do that work together! We create the space together where the work happens. I get the privilege to witness your transformation and remind you of your progress along the way! I'll challenge you when it feels like you're defensive, deflecting, or do know something you say you don't want to. I use Holy scripture, homework, and silence both in and out of sessions to help identify the strengths and the pitfalls that will come up. The Bible is used heavily as a main source of reference. It is not a requirement that you believe in the God of the Bible, Jesus Christ, or Christianity to engage in services. However, if you may be offended by reference to God of the Bible, Jesus Christ, and/or the Bible itself, these services may not be an appropriate fit. I believe Mental Wellness is a spectrum everyone falls on and we focus on that spectrum rather than Mental Illness or diagnosis. No matter where you are that spectrum today there is hope! What you can expect from me Therapy is like a sitcom or series you like to watch. There are phases, seasons, episodes, and parts. In the first episode (session) we will complete an intake, which is painting a BIG picture of the problems you may be experiencing today. Think of it as a recap before you start the next season of a tv show or movie sequel. You may know where you are today but we will look at the context of how you got there. How will you do it? I'll ask about your self-care practices, support system, and strengths. Don't worry, you won't be the first or only one who doesn't think about this alot, but we'll spend some time there. Those three S's (support, self care, and strengths) are foundational to our work together, and we'll keep building as we go along. We will also set at least one goal or focus for our time together. Something we can continue to monitor progress of in 6-8 weeks. What to bring? Bring a notebook or journal - this is where you'll take notes and complete your homework Bring and opened mind and shrunken ego- easily offended will only hinder the process Bring questions, reflections- all of them! Bring challenges - what's hard or heavy? Bring strengths! -these will help overcome challenges Bring honesty! Bring Presence, NOT perfection!
