I’m Jameela Muhammad, MSW, LSWAIC (LICSWA #SC61425927), and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a therapist, a proud University of Washington School of Social Work grad, and someone who’s spent over a decade in social work, child welfare, and mental health—so trust me, I’ve seen a lot, learned a lot, and I bring all of that heart and experience into the room with you. I created The Melanated Therapist because I wanted a space where people—especially those carrying generational weight, cultural expectations, and everyday stress—could finally breathe. My style is real, down‑to‑earth, and centered on you. I blend evidence‑based approaches like CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness, but I’m not here to talk at you in therapy jargon. I’m here to meet you where you are, move at your pace, and help you reconnect with the parts of yourself you may have had to quiet for too long. Think of our work together as a grounding conversation with someone who genuinely gets it. Whether you’re navigating trauma, relationship challenges, identity shifts, or just trying to feel more like yourself again, my goal is to help you tap back into your strength, your voice, and your truth. Healing isn’t about being perfect—it’s about showing up as you are. And I’m honored to walk alongside you as you do just that. As a LICSWA, I provide services under the supervision of Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Sarah Matthews (License #LW60890354).
