My name is Jamelun Crutchfield, and I am the Founder of Kala Counseling and Wellness, LLC. I became passionate about working in mental health after several years of working in Community Mental Health as a Case Manager and witnessing the transformative impact mental health treatment has on treating trauma. I chose the name Kala Counseling and Wellness because of it's profound meaning. Kala (Kah-Luh) in Hawaiian means to let go or release. This is my hope for each of my client's. Oftentimes, individuals who have experienced trauma feel stuck and as if the weight of the past is holding them hostage. By incorporating evidence-based modalities, I aim to help my clients access their inner strength to heal and break free from the cycle of unhelpful patterns. I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Play Therapy and Expressive Arts. I utilize an Integrative Approach of EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and expressive arts interventions to aid my clients in processing issues related to trauma, grief, and identity. I am passionate about working with individuals across the lifespan who are struggling with complex trauma, and I specialize in working with individuals and children who are struggling with past experiences of trauma, anxiety, or depression.
