I believe therapy should feel a lot less like “So… tell me about your childhood” and a lot more like having a real conversation with someone who is actually listening. You don’t have to show up with the perfect words, a five-year plan, or even know exactly what’s wrong. You can show up overwhelmed, frustrated, confused, motivated, completely over it, or somewhere in between. We’ll start there. As a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), I work with adults navigating substance use and recovery, anxiety, depression, relationships, major life changes, stress, and those “How did my life get this complicated?” seasons. My style is supportive, practical, person-centered, and human. Yes, we may talk about your past, but therapy with me isn’t about living there forever. We’ll also figure out what’s happening right now, recognize patterns that keep showing up, build coping skills that actually make sense for your life, and create realistic goals for where you want to go next. I know reaching out for therapy can feel awkward, especially if you’ve had experiences where you felt judged, misunderstood, talked at, or like you were just another name on someone’s schedule. I want therapy to feel different. You deserve a space where you can be honest, even when it’s messy. A place where we can talk about the hard stuff, recognize the progress you might be overlooking, challenge what isn’t working, and occasionally laugh at the absolute chaos that comes with being a human. No perfect answers required. No pretending you have it all together. Just show up as you are, and we’ll work from there.
