Lux Learning Services was founded by Janel Lux in 2023. Janel has over 12 years of experience as a practicing school psychologist in Northeast Ohio and Central Ohio. Janel started Lux Learning Services to help others discover their unique learning strengths and differences, and advocate for their needs. Janel holds an Independent School Psychologist license from the Ohio Board of Psychology. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from John Carroll University, and her Master of Education and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from Kent State University. Janel stays informed on the latest research and best practices as a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and the Ohio School Psychologists Association. - Services - Diagnostic Evaluations for: Specific Learning Disorders Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Intellectual Developmental Disorder A diagnostic evaluation typically involves gathering a comprehensive developmental history, two to three face-to-face testing sessions (typically 2-3 hours each), review of relevant educational and medical records, clinical observations and questionnaires/interviews with teachers or family. Following testing, a 1-hour feedback meeting is held to review all results. You will also receive a comprehensive written report including applicable diagnoses with individualized recommendations and accommodations for school or home support. Academic Consultation: Academic testing to help identify your child's academic performance level including strengths and needs, and help inform your next steps for advocacy or further assessment. This testing cannot yield a diagnosis, but can help indicate if further diagnostic testing might be recommended. It provides you with a report of your child's skill level in specific academic areas relative to peers, and recommendations for next steps. If, after the consultation a diagnostic evaluation is indicated, your cost for the consultation would be deducted from the overall cost of the comprehensive evaluation. IEP / ETR Document Review: A review of your child's current Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Evaluation Team Report (ETR) is conducted, and I provide feedback and recommendations to clarify supports and inform advocacy. A consultation report is provided. Additional consultation for other records (504s, FBAs/BIPs, etc.) and school meeting support is also available. - Payment Options - You will receive a good faith estimate prior to the first testing session. For diagnostic assessments, 50% of the estimated service cost is due at the first scheduled testing session. The remaining balance is due at the feedback session. Cash, check, credit or debit card is accepted. A payment plan is available upon request for services over $500. a $200 deposit is required at the first appointment, with the remaining balance charged over a 6-month or 12-month pay period with no interest. A credit card authorization for automatic payments is required to be on file for payment plans. - A Note About Insurance - I do not currently accept private insurance. Unfortunately, many insurance providers do not include coverage for the assessment of dyslexia or other learning disorders. A superbill can be provided upon request, following services rendered to see if potential partial reimbursement is available directly from your insurance. Contact your carrier for information regarding Out-of-Network coverage of services. The most common billing codes used for this service are: 90791, 96136, 96137, 96130, and 96131.
