JaNell Jones, M.Ed., is a counselor, policy leader, and advocate whose work is rooted in healing, justice, and the belief that people and communities can thrive when they are supported with care and intention. With a background in counseling, behavioral health, and public policy, she brings a thoughtful and compassionate perspective to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, strengthen their sense of self, and move toward greater emotional wellness. JaNell’s experience spans clinical counseling, youth development, community engagement, and systems-level leadership. She has provided counseling services under supervision, supported youth and families through community programming, and helped develop behavioral health curriculum for justice-impacted individuals. Her work reflects a deep understanding of how personal healing is connected to family stability, community support, and broader social systems. As co-founder of Both Sidez of the Glass and a Virginia Governor’s Fellow in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, JaNell has also demonstrated a strong commitment to advocacy, collaboration, and evidence-informed change. Her research and leadership focus on the lasting impact of incarceration, reentry, behavioral health, and the policies that shape opportunity and well-being. As an Inner Self Therapist, JaNell creates a supportive space where clients can feel seen, heard, and empowered to reconnect with their inner strength. She believes healing is both personal and relational, and that growth becomes possible when people are met with compassion, honesty, and hope.
