Janelle Johnson's Professional Biography Janelle Johnson's mission as a service leader is to promote the welfare, spiritual well-being, educational excellence, and empowerment of humankind. She works to combat stigmas and misconceptions about mental health treatments. In addition, she believes that education fosters development and understanding, enabling students to develop their creative art, character, skills, and knowledge, and gain insight into subject matters and issues. Janelle holds an Associate of Arts in Business from Phoenix College, a Bachelor of Science in Family Resources and Human Development from Arizona State University, and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Regis University. Additionally, Janelle is a doctoral student at Grand Canyon University, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision. Janelle is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Life Balance Counseling. In 2011, Janelle founded Life Balance Counseling, a private mental health practice in Colorado. She is led to practice and specialize in areas lived experientially and dear to her. In therapy, Janelle listens to people to gain a deeper understanding while helping them identify their values so they can "balance their lives." In treatment, the therapist and client work collaboratively to maximize the client's full potential and work towards optimal health. Both students and clients are encouraged to move toward their goals and access available resources. Janelle is an Online Adjunct Instructor at Grand Canyon University. Her love for learning as a lifelong learner propels her work as an educator. Her teaching style is democratic, and she fosters a learning environment conducive to learner development and growth. Janelle promotes integration with a classroom culture indicative of respect, value, and ethics. She cultivates an environment where students are valued as contributors to their experience. Janelle has an authentic interest in her students and clients' personal and social growth. Janelle's volunteer work has included serving as a mental health coordinator for the Denver District A.M.E. Zion Church, volunteering with the CO Black Health Collaborative, and serving as a Colorado Registered Psychotherapist Board Member, as well as being the NAACP Mental Health Chair. Janelle is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Rho Upsilon Chi Chapter. Janelle has contributed to mental health commentating on Denver7, Local 3, and Fox 31 news channels, as well as mental health reenactments on TV One, and written mental health articles for the CO Black Health Collaborative and Good Therapy. Additionally, Janelle is featured in the June 2022 men's mental health issue and the May 2023 mental health author issue of the Denver Urban Spectrum magazine. She was also a featured Mental Health Business owner in the February 2024 and March 2025 issues of ACUMEN Colorado.
