Introduction

Jared Reichenberg, MD, is board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and in general/adult psychiatry. I work with adolescents and young adults (ages 13-25, may take older or younger individuals on a case-by-case basis) during the years when academic, emotional, and relational demands often outpace the tools a young person has been given to meet them. Many of the families I see have spent time searching for an explanation that fits: a teenager whose anxiety has quietly narrowed their world, a young adult struggling through the move toward independence, a child whose attention or mood has been hard to understand within a single diagnosis. My approach pairs careful diagnostic assessment with treatment that accounts for the whole person. I integrate evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy, so care is coordinated rather than scattered across providers. I draw on developmentally-informed therapeutic approaches and work to address not only symptoms but also the patterns beneath them, and I involve families closely when it helps, because a young person's progress rarely happens in isolation. My particular clinical interests include autism spectrum disorder*, anxiety disorders, and the developmental challenges that accompany the transition into adulthood. Whether a family is seeking a first evaluation or a second opinion after treatment that has not fully helped, my aim is to bring clarity, steadiness, and a plan that makes sense. *My autism spectrum work is outpatient and office-based, well-suited to adolescents and young adults seeking support with anxiety, mood, attention, or the transition to adulthood. Individuals whose needs call for intensive behavioral or safety support (severe aggression or self-injury, etc.) or specialized services for significant co-occurring developmental or occupational needs are better matched to programs designed for that level of care. In these cases, the practice can help connect families with appropriate care from the start.
