Staying present when the water gets rough changes everything. Whether you are navigating Class IV whitewater, leading an organization, trying to repair a marriage on the brink, or moving toward retirement, high-pressure environments have a way of exposing our deepest fractures. When the stakes are high, instinct tells us to tighten control, hide our pain, or run. I’m Dr. Jeff Cook, a counselor educator, former Division I athlete, and long-time clinician. After 25 years of clinical practice, 30 years of marriage, and raising four adult kids, I’ve learned one fundamental truth: behind every struggle, compulsion, or reactive habit is a story that makes complete sense once we uncover where it came from. Through a convenient, fully online practice, I work with athletes, leaders, couples, and individuals navigating major life transitions. Whether that means untangling shame and depression, confronting the end of a career, or repairing a damaged relationship, our work is grounded in a deeply relational approach. Together, we will examine how your past has shaped you, face the rough water, and help you rebuild a whole, present, and grounded sense of self.
