I have been in the field of Social Work with a Master's Degree since 1973. I have been in private practice for the past 10 years. I went into Social Work as a sort of fluke. I wanted a degree in Psychology but I was terrible in math which eliminated statistics in Psychology. I saw that Social Work offered the ability to provide therapy to people, so I decided to take a chance and pursue a degree. In graduate school at the University of Michigan, I learned about behavior therapy which I truly enjoyed. Later on in my career, I discovered Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and I find it is the best approach to helping clients. I also learned to apply Solution Focused Behavior Therapy and Humor Therapy. These are very helpful to me and my clients.
