My approach is rooted in the idea or truth that everyone knows the answer for themselves. I believe that we sometimes need some support to quiet the noise of expectations from others or society so we can hear our own voice. Mindfulness techniques help you explore how your body is responding to stressors and helps you have awareness and grounding. When you are more grounded in yourself, you can find your path forward. These techniques can include things like body scans, thoughtful reflections, and meditation techniques (if you're interested). We may also compassionately challenge the origin of beliefs or "shoulds" you may have to see if they still align with you. When we reach different stages in life, we can find ourselves outgrowing old ways of being, which isn't to say that they weren't good, just that we may want to try something different. Anytime we hit one of these stages, it's helpful to do a gut-check to see what feels authentic for who you are now. My goal is to empower my clients to know and trust the strength within themselves so that they may live a fulfilling life despite the challenges they face. Using evidence-based techniques and incorporating their culture and worldview, I collaborate with my clients to find a path forward for healing.
