I have over 25 years of experience working with children, first as a teacher, and then as a school counselor. My philosophy is to allow the children to lead the session in order to build a strong sense of autonomy, self-acceptance, and confidence. I strive to meet the developmental needs of both young children, using traditional play therapy, and pre-teens or young teens, who benefit from expressive arts, and collaborative games. I will also partner closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that the growth achieved in the playroom translates into positive changes at home and school. Some areas of focus are anxiety and stress and helping children process big worries and build healthy coping mechanisms. I support life transitions, such as parental divorce, moving, or changing schools. I also help children strengthen emotional and behavior regulation by learning to understand, name, express and manage intense emotions in healthy ways.
