Welcome! I’m Jennifer Mislinski and I’m so glad you’re here! In my office, it’s about you — your story, your healing, and the space to just be yourself. I’ll meet you where you are and go at whatever pace is comfortable for you (but that doesn’t mean I won’t gently nudge you along). I believe that effective therapy starts with finding the right fit - for both of us. So here’s what you can expect in our first session: I call the first session “the Download Session” because you’ll be given the space to share with me what brings you to therapy (or back to therapy), what life looks like at home, tell me about your day to day and your important relationships, and we’ll take time at the end to identify your goals together. I believe therapy works best when it’s built on trust and emotional safety. My goal is for you to feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind and heart without fear of judgment. I promise to listen with empathy and compassion, always seeking to understand what’s beneath the surface of the challenges you’re facing. I counsel with curiosity and strive to offer alternative perspectives, tools, and coping skills you can use as soon as you leave my office. I often bring humor into my sessions and you’ll probably also hear me throw out a movie quote or two. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor I’ve been in the mental health field for over 10 years, working in substance abuse, community mental health, and private practice. I have a Master’s in Counseling from Duquesne University and I’m a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). When you come to therapy, you share a lot about yourself, so allow me to share a little about who I am: Counseling is my 2nd career – it’s never too late to start over - and I absolutely love what I do! I’m a transplant from Philadelphia and I am so glad I found my way to Pittsburgh. I’ve been married for 14 years and have 2 amazing kids -a boy and a girl -plus a Mini Goldendoodle named Murphy. I love hiking, boxing, horseback riding, Penn State (I was a cheerleader there – WE ARE!), The Hunger Games, and Marvel movies. If you're interested in learning how we can work together to help achieve your therapy goals, send me a note and let's chat.
