Introduction

Hello! I am Jennifer Radomski. I’m a master’s level student therapist here at Denver Mental Health Collective, but you can also call me a Trauma Healer, Menopause Guide, and Grief Transformer. I help teens and adults who have experienced life-changing events to heal and experience post-traumatic growth. My ideal clients are teens and adults who have experienced life-changing events, women who are navigating the perimenopause to post-menopause transition, and people who have recently lost a loved one and are struggling. Trauma Healer: We don’t get to choose all the things that happen to us in life. One of the hardest truths is that sometimes bad things happen to good people. If you’ve experienced a life-changing event and you feel scared, angry, guilty, or broken, let’s talk about it. Maybe you didn’t just experience one terrible event. Maybe you experienced ongoing abuse or violations. Maybe the person who hurt you was someone you loved and trusted. Trauma is your emotional response to a terrible event(s). It’s normal to experience a jumble of emotions. It’s normal to blame yourself. It’s normal to feel broken and to have low self-esteem. I will provide a safe space for you to tell your story. Together, we will untangle the jumble of emotions and thoughts that you have about yourself, others, and the world. You can’t choose what happens to you in life, but you can choose how you think about it. Bad things happen to good people, but that doesn’t make you bad. It makes you a survivor. Trauma is one of the hardest things that people have to deal with. But I assure you that once you face your trauma, you can actually become stronger, happier and more resilient than you were before the experience. Post-traumatic growth is real, and it is possible for you. Menopause Guide: Are you in your 40s or 50s and suddenly feel lost in your body? Do you secretly feel like you are losing your mind? There are currently 1.2 billion women in perimenopause or beyond. The perimenopause to post-menopause transition can take a decade. It’s essentially reverse puberty. All women go through this transition if they live long enough. Yet there is very little information about this time of life and what we should expect physically, mentally, and emotionally. This time is marked by many new physical symptoms. Anxiety, depression, mood swings, and irritability can develop or intensify. Sleep can be disturbed, and fatigue is all too common. Our bodies start to store fat around our bellies. Hot flashes are uncomfortable and embarrassing. Women in this transition often have to manage these changes without much guidance from their physicians. Most doctors receive one hour of training about this stage of life, and they are woefully unprepared for our complexity. What you are experiencing is real. It is not in your head. To make this transition more difficult, many women are juggling these changes while working and caring for children and aging parents. I create a safe space for women to talk about the changes they are experiencing, the grief they feel about the loss of their youth and fertility and the fears they have about aging. We will journey together through this transition. I will listen to your concerns with the empathy you need. I will encourage you to advocate for your needs with your physicians. You deserve to feel great at all stages of your life. I want all women to feel strong and empowered to make the second half of their lives vibrant and even healthier than the first half. Grief Transformer: Have you lost someone you love and are struggling to imagine your life without them? We all lose people we love. Most of the time, we mourn for a period of time and find a way to go on without them in our lives. Sometimes, we lose a loved one, and we get stuck in grief. Or we feel overwhelmed by the loss and the loneliness we feel. Maybe you have regrets about things you said or did. Or you might have regrets about things you wish you had said and done. Relationships are complex. Even strong, healthy relationships can involve regrets, guilt, and worries. Troubled relationships can leave us with a complex web of emotions. When someone dies, you don’t have the chance to work out these issues with them. That’s where therapy comes in. I will listen to the story of your relationship with your loved one. I create a safe space for you to talk about the good, the bad, and the regrets. Grief isn’t linear. You may feel like life is getting easier, and then it suddenly gets harder again. That’s normal. You might feel sad, angry, hurt, abandoned or relieved. Your emotions are valid. I welcome you to talk about your grief journey. I will listen to you and help you to untangle all the messy emotions. I will empower you to find healing and meaning in your loss. Grief is a natural response to a meaningful loss. Let’s work through it together. EDUCATION & TRAINING I am working on my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bellevue University.
