Jess creates a safe, supportive environment for infants, children, teens, adults, couples, and families, of diverse backgrounds, to find emotional health and wellbeing holistically. Jess practices child-centered play therapy with young children under the supervision of Connie Eller MS, LPC, RPT™. Jess creates a warm, safe space where the child feels confident to communicate through play. In partnership with caregivers, Jess tailors developmentally appropriate goals and interventions for the child to address a range of presenting concerns that can include, tantrums, attention and focus, separation anxiety or sleep difficulties. Jess attunes to the child’s unique needs and uses her calm voice to foster trust and connection which facilitates change. Jess believes in the child’s natural propensity for growth and wellness which means her sessions are focused on the child's strengths and potential for growth rather than their struggles or challenges. Jess has researched parental leave and its effects on mental health for family members and the impact of adoption on development across the lifespan. Jess uses this research and knowledge when working with parents and other caregivers during parent coaching, family sessions and caregiver consultations. Jess spent ten years working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-aged children and their families as a nanny helping to facilitate developmental growth and wellness through play and nature. When Jess is not at the office, she enjoys gardening, walking, basking in the majesty of Lake Michigan and spending quality time with the people she loves.
