Hello, my name is Jessica Adkins, and I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate serving individuals and families in Southern West Virginia. My passion for helping others developed over a lifetime of diverse experiences, including service in the U.S. Air Force, work in education, and, ultimately, finding my calling in the counseling profession. While I specialize in substance use and addiction counseling, I also work extensively with mental health clients experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, trauma-related concerns, and other life stressors. I am passionate about helping individuals of all ages improve their emotional well-being and develop the skills needed to navigate life's challenges successfully. One of the areas I enjoy most is working with children and families. I love helping children identify and express their emotions in healthy ways while supporting parents and caregivers in understanding and addressing behavioral concerns. I believe strong family relationships are a vital part of healing and growth, and I am committed to helping families strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and develop healthier patterns of interaction. Whether a family is facing behavioral challenges, major life transitions, conflict, or the impact of substance use and mental health concerns, I strive to help family members reconnect and work toward positive change together. My counseling approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and collaboration. I utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and family-focused approaches to help clients identify barriers, build coping skills, and achieve their goals. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. Whether you are seeking support for addiction recovery, mental health concerns, emotional and behavioral challenges, family conflict, or personal growth, my goal is to walk alongside you throughout the counseling process. I believe counseling is not simply about addressing problems—it's about recognizing strengths, fostering resilience, rebuilding relationships, and creating lasting, meaningful change. I look forward to having the opportunity to support you and your family on your journey toward healing, growth, and wellness.
