# Hi, I'm Joanna Bienko-Czerniski, LCSW People often seek therapy when something in their life no longer feels sustainable. You may find yourself overwhelmed by anxiety, sadness, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself, stuck in painful relationship patterns, struggling with a major life transition, or carrying a persistent sense that something is missing—even though, from the outside, your life appears successful. Sometimes the problem is obvious. Sometimes it is much harder to name. You simply know that the way you've been living, coping, or relating is no longer working. Therapy offers a space to slow down, become curious about your inner world, and begin understanding the deeper forces that shape your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and choices. Together, we explore not only what is happening in your life today, but also the patterns and experiences that may have quietly influenced you for years. My approach goes beyond symptom management. While reducing anxiety, depression, burnout, and relationship distress is important, I believe lasting change comes from understanding yourself at a deeper level. Many of the struggles that bring people to therapy are rooted in unconscious beliefs, attachment patterns, and ways of protecting ourselves that once served a purpose but may now be limiting growth, connection, and fulfillment. I work collaboratively with clients to identify recurring patterns in relationships, emotional responses, self-perception, and coping strategies. Through this process, clients often develop greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, stronger relationships, and a clearer sense of who they are and what they truly want from life. My work is grounded primarily in psychodynamic and attachment-based psychotherapy. I tend to work with thoughtful, reflective individuals who are interested in meaningful, lasting change rather than quick fixes. Therapy is not simply about feeling better—it is about understanding yourself more fully so that you can live more authentically, connect more deeply, and create a life that feels genuinely your own. Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. I offer a free phone/video consultation so we can discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
