John was originally drawn to clinical work by a desire to help people struggling with addiction and alcoholism. Over time, that work has expanded into a particular passion for helping older veterans feel comfortable in the therapy space and recognize that getting support does not have to feel clinical, intimidating, or disconnected from who they are. John works with adults experiencing substance use concerns, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and major life transitions. He especially enjoys working with clients who may be hesitant about therapy or who are not sure what they are supposed to talk about when they get there. His style is conversational and down-to-earth. John helps clients explore how their past experiences may be affecting their lives today while keeping therapy focused on practical solutions and where they want to go next. The goal is not simply to talk about what has happened, but to understand it well enough to begin making meaningful changes moving forward.
