Introduction

John Lampert, MA, LMFT (he/him) is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 20 years of experience working with couples, individuals, and families. John’s work as a psychotherapist has resulted in a wide range of proficiencies, including work with individual clients in their search for meaning and fulfillment. John utilizes a personally developed form of existential therapy, which addresses clients’ experience of meaning, isolation, freedom, and death. This approach to therapy is abstract in nature, challenging, and at times fun. The ultimate goal of this existential therapy is to support the client in realizing an enriched life with enhanced fulfillment, which can result in reduced mental health symptoms, such as depression and anxiety. John’s work with couples is his true passion. He has spent thousands of hours “behind closed doors” with couples struggling with various complexities including infidelity, financial reversals, reduced or absent intimacy, as well as various sources of grief and loss. John possesses a unique style wherein he respectfully challenges each person in the relationship to look first, and most deeply, at their own contribution to difficulty. You might hear him say, “Good couples therapy is hard work, so buckle up, and let’s get at it!” Despite this sort of challenge, John approaches his work with a presence rich in empathy and affirmation.
