You’re probably good at solving problems. You think ahead, handle pressure, and keep things moving. At the same time, you may feel anxious, burned out, or disconnected from yourself. You might find yourself overthinking, people-pleasing, pushing yourself too hard, or being much more critical of yourself than you would be of anyone else. You may understand the pattern and still have a hard time changing it. I’m John Murray, MA, LPCC. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working in tech startups and corporate leadership, so I understand the pace, pressure, and responsibility that can come with demanding careers. I offer somatic (mind-body) therapy for adults working in tech and other high-pressure careers, both in Boulder and online throughout Colorado. I pull from somatic therapy, Gestalt, parts work, mindfulness, and attachment-informed therapy depending on what fits you. We might slow down and notice what happens when you start to overthink, criticize yourself, shut down, or say yes when you want to say no. Instead of only explaining the pattern, we work with it as it happens. Over time, this can help you feel more at ease with yourself, more present with the people you care about, and able to enjoy your life without always feeling like you should be doing more. If any of this sounds familiar, I offer a free 20-minute consultation so we can talk about what you’re looking for and see whether working together feels right.
