Dr. John earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minor in psychology, from Presentation College, Aberdeen, South Dakota in 2014. He obtained a Psychiatry and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner doctorate degree from The College of Saint Scholastica, Duluth, MN. John has worked in acute psychiatric and medical psychiatric units for eight years at Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota, and has treated children, adolescents and adults with various mental health concerns and disorders including depression disorders, anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety, and specific phobia, bipolar and related disorders psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism related behavior disturbances and disruptive behavior, such as Oppositional defiant disorder. His vast experience in treating all ages gives him a unique opportunity to understand the family needs of people, more so, children with mental health disturbances and puts him in a better position to care for adults, adolescence, children and parents with children with mental health issues. This is truer with his eight years experience in caring for the elderly, which he smoothly transitioned to geriatric psychiatry. John is a big proponent of dual therapy with psychotherapy and psychopharmacological interventions.
