Hello! I'm José María Cantú Jr., a bilingual Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under the supervision of Alexis Tarr, LCSW-S. I offer therapy in English and Spanish. As a first-generation Mexican American, I value how culture, identity, and family shape our lives. I have over seven years of social work experience with youth and families in schools and at a Children's Advocacy Center. I earned my BSW from the University of North Texas and my MSW from the University of Texas at Arlington, concentrating in Mental Health and Substance Use. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and LGBTQ+ clients, providing culturally responsive, LGBTQ+ affirming care. I support clients navigating identity, relationships, life transitions, and intergenerational family dynamics. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, drawing on narrative and solution-focused techniques. My goal is a welcoming space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable being yourself.
