Introduction

Aloha! I’m Joseph, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and the owner of Koa Mental Health. Based in Hawaii, I offer in person as well as telehealth counseling services to clients across the islands. I provide care for individuals navigating a variety of mental health challenges, including mood disorders like depression and anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideations, personality disorders, and severe, persistent mental illness. My practice also includes work with LGBTQ+ individuals and those involved in the criminal justice system, including those with sexual offense histories. My style is down-to-earth, flexible, and trauma-informed. I pull from different approaches like CBT and person-centered therapy, depending on what works best for you. No two people are the same, and therapy shouldn’t be either. I do my best to create an open space that’s safe and supportive. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help you figure things out and get a game plan in moving forward in your life. Let’s start the conversation when you’re ready.
