Introduction

I am a Relational-Cultural Therapist, so I try to engage us both in a creative act of mutual healing and empowerment. I tend to spend a lot of time talking about the social context of people's concerns, which can include your family dynamic (both present day and in childhood), as well as ideas about "proper" gender roles, sexual scripts, or racist stereotypes. We might talk about how to be as authentic and genuine as possible, things you do to stay connected to people that actually keep you at a distance, setting boundaries, letting folks in, or anything else that feels helpful. I believe clients should have total control over the therapy process, and it is my role to bring knowledge of psychology and social context to help people make sense of and enact change in their lives. Therapy should be a humanizing process, so I try to empower us both to be as authentic as possible! My core values: Authenticity | Empathy | Mutuality | Difference | Conflict | Hope
