Since 2003, I have been in private practice in Atlanta, conducting individual, couples, and family therapy with adolescents and adults. I treat various issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, body image, bariatric issues, relationship issues, adolescent issues, self-esteem issues, stress management, life adjustment/transitions, and trauma. As a Jamaican who has lived in America for many years, I am also sensitive to minority, diversity, inclusion, and cultural issues. I am very fortunate to be doing what I love for a living… helping people find their happy place by living their best, authentic, full lives. I believe in establishing a collaborative relationship with my clients, as well as other professionals who are a part of their therapeutic team, to help support the therapy process. Using mainly cognitive-behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy, I help my clients learn how to identify and challenge their negative thoughts and unhealthy behaviors so they can develop more meaningful lives. I work with my clients in managing their emotions, improve their ability to communicate with others, and build a healthy and resilient self-concept. Using these techniques my clients are able to uncovering core issues, develop solutions, create necessary change and feel empowered. Utilizing a direct, interactive, and compassionate approach with a touch of humor, I work with my clients to develop healthy coping skills so they can pull from their “toolbox” of skills between sessions and eventually throughout their lives. I am known as the “tell-it-like-it-is” therapist, while creating a warm, safe, nonjudgmental environment.
