Introduction

Hi there! I'm Dr. Julia Catlin, and I offer psychotherapy services and clinical supervision. I specialize in helping military veterans and families, individuals with ADHD/autism, and creatives, including performing artists and athletes. In addition to psychology and psychotherapy, I am active in the arts. I am an operatic soprano, performing artist, and creative. I enjoy training in aikido, yoga, running, and strength training. I love to move! On the creative side, I enjoy singing, crochet/knitting, visiting art museums, and being in nature. I also enjoy attending San Diego Comicon each year and playing DnD, which has been an amazing creativity boost! Regarding my professional background, my doctoral training consisted of clinical practica and an APPIC-approved/matched internship placement, similar to a medical residency. I completed my doctoral internship in clinical psychology at Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program in Los Angeles, CA. I completed my clinical practicum at Alicia’s Place, a nonprofit practice specializing in psychotherapy and trauma assessment. I completed my assessment rotation at Grant-A-Gift Autism Foundation, a pediatric neuropsychology clinic specializing in the assessment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning and intellectual disabilities, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Before my doctoral training, I earned my master’s degree in mental health counseling at Viterbo University and have worked across the lifespan in hospitals, pain management clinics, group practices, and community mental health agencies. I have taught undergraduate psychology courses at Truckee Meadows Community College. I returned to a teaching and mentoring role when I became an approved clinical supervisor for graduate students in counseling, social work, and marriage and family therapy in the Chesapeake, VA area. Book a free, 15-minute consultation with me to see if psychotherapy might be right for you.
