Julia Spenadel, LPCC, ATR-P is the owner and psychotherapist of Julia Spenadel, Counseling and Art Therapy. I began my career as a makeup artist, helping people express themselves outwardly, but eventually felt called to support people in a deeper way. That calling led me to art therapy, where self-expression, mindfulness, and compassion intersect. If you live with neurodivergence, anxiety, or the burnout that comes from managing overwhelming demands, you likely feel like the world doesn’t fit the way your brain works. My approach is person centered and trauma-informed. I draw from multiple modalities, including motivational interviewing, parts work, existentialism, and somatic practices, as well as traditional ones like CBT and DBT. In therapy with me, you’ll discover that you don’t need to be ‘fixed.’ Together, we’ll create a space that honors how you think, feel, and move through life. Sessions include talking, making art, and noticing what’s happening in your body. Sometimes words are enough. Other times, images, metaphors, and materials provide a safer way in. Art therapy can help bring experiences into awareness without the pressure to explain them, while also calming the nervous system and building self-regulation skills. Living with ADHD has shown me how traditional talk therapy can often fall short. I use approaches that match how you learn, helping you feel grounded, connected to your emotions, and free to live life in your own authentic way.
