I have always loved music. I love the different genres and cultures. The way you can dance, sing, cry, run or walk with the right song from one state of being to the next. I think of therapy the same way. When I practice with individuals or partnerships, I wonder about the instruments that make up your internal music and who is part of your orchestra, band, or group. Do you want a sultry, smooth rnb love or do you prefer the upbeat nature of a pop punk song? Do you hate music all together? Do you want to create a remix? What sounds were heard in your home growing up? I am genuinely curious, which is why, when I meet with you, I ask about your internal world. Noticing when we are similar, but aware not to project my thoughts onto you. I am a trauma therapist, I care less about implementing a set of behaviors for you to do and more about figuring out if you weren’t so burdened, what kind of life would you create?
