Introduction

KAMILA ZAPYTOWSKA, MA, LCSW Psychotherapist & Clinical Director We often live our lives in two parts: the person the world sees, and the person we feel like when the lights go down. My background is rooted in high-stakes environments—from the intensity of Olympic-level athletics to the stages of Broadway. These experiences taught me a vital lesson: high achievement doesn't insulate us from struggle; often, it creates a unique kind of pressure to stay silent about it. Whether you are navigating a high-profile career, a demanding family life, or a major life transition, the weight of "having it all together" can lead to profound isolation and burnout. My Approach: Insight for Every Life I provide a discreet, grounded space for individuals and couples who are ready to look beneath the surface. My approach is psychoanalytic and depth-oriented, which is a formal way of saying we don’t just treat symptoms—we look for the "why." We work together to uncover the internal conflicts and past experiences that fuel current anxieties or relationship patterns. By understanding these roots, we create a foundation for sustainable mastery—a version of self that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. How I Help I specialize in working with people who feel the weight of expectation, whether that comes from a boardroom, a stage, sports arena or their own internal drive. My focus includes: Anxiety & Burnout: For those who feel exhausted by their own high standards or the demands of their environment. Relational Connection: Helping couples navigate the complexities of modern life to find authentic, shared stability. Career & Identity Transitions: Support for those navigating major shifts, professional injuries, or the search for new meaning. Performance Resilience: Helping performers and professionals resolve the "Imposter Syndrome" and internal blocks that hinder their growth. Clinical Expertise & Leadership My clinical foundation is built on advanced postgraduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the International Psychotherapy Institute (IPI) in Washington, DC. As a certified Object Relations Theory teacher and Affective Group leader, I have led seminars on complex themes including psychosomatic disorders, symbolism, and the clinical significance of dreams. My work in this field has been further enriched through my membership in the Manhattan Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Group in New York City. My scholarly contributions were recognized with the Jacob Goldfein Award for Creative and Scholarly Work, specifically for my research on Body-centered Therapies and Healing Trauma. Academic Foundation This specialized expertise is supported by rigorous academic training across two continents. I hold a Master’s degree from the Warsaw Academy of Physical Education in Poland, where I studied sports psychology, physiology, and rehabilitation—providing me with a unique perspective on the mind-body connection. Additionally, I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and Mental Health from Hunter College in New York. Whether you are seeking to reclaim your creative integrity, recover from professional exhaustion, or repair a strained relationship, my goal is to provide you with the deep, clarifying insight required to live a life that is grounded, authentic, and truly your own. LYNN COHEN, MHC-LP, MA Psychotherapist I know the power of a strong therapeutic alliance, from both sides of the couch, and understand we all desire to be fully seen, known, and loved. Together, we will look closely at your inner life and relationship patterns with the shared goal of uncovering how past experiences affect who you are today, and why certain experiences can trigger symptoms. With unconditional positive regard, I hold a space where clients as co-creators feel comfortable confiding things to me that they never, or rarely, tell others. Through collaboration, my clients realize their potential by revealing their minds and hearts to themselves. My style is a blend of acceptance and authenticity, and I am kind, direct and engaging in my work. I believe that enhanced self-compassion, and moving away from guilt and shame is the best path towards richer relationships and enduring feelings of self-worth, and that a life of meaning, satisfaction and contentment is available to everyone. Before entering the mental health field, I studied literature and theatre, and worked as an author, actor, creative ideation agent and stand-up comic. My creative background and lived experience inform my unique set of therapeutic skills and insight. I approach sessions with the compassionate curiosity and unconditional positive regard that is rooted in psychodynamic theory. * Please be advised that Lynn has a provisional license as a psychotherapist with the title of Mental Health Counselor – Limited Permit and is under the supervision of Kamila Zapytowska, MA, LCSW Professional Disclosure & Jurisdictional Notice: In New Jersey: Professional services are provided by Kamila Zapytowska Psychotherapy PLLC, a New Jersey Professional Limited Liability Company.
