Introduction

Karey Swartwout is a psychotherapist and founder of Swartwout Group. Her approach is straightforward and strategic, grounded in clinical psychology and an interest in the whole person. She helps clients slow things down enough to understand what's actually happening, including the relationships, assumptions and incentives that may be influencing a situation. Rather than looking at a problem in isolation, she considers the larger picture and what may be within a client's control. Before becoming a therapist, Karey spent more than two decades building and selling businesses and leading organizations through growth, difficult decisions, conflict, and significant change. As the parent of a large blended family, she also understands that life's challenges rarely fit neatly into categories. This background continues to shape the Swartwout Group practice today. Her work includes individual, couples and family therapy, particularly around relationship difficulties, conflict, difficult decisions and major life transitions. She offers ongoing therapy, extended sessions, and focused therapy intensives. When useful, she also works alongside other professionals involved in a client's care.
