Introduction

KJ provides compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for teens, adults, couples, and families, with particular interests in trauma, neurodivergence, veterans, relationships, and family systems. She believes therapy should meet each person where they are and recognizes that healing does not always happen through traditional talk therapy alone. KJ integrates EMDR, somatic and nervous-system-based approaches, Gottman-informed couples therapy, sandtray, expressive interventions, and experiential work based on each client's needs. Her approach emphasizes understanding the connection between experiences, emotions, relationships, and the nervous system while helping clients build greater regulation, connection, and resilience. KJ has a particular passion for working with veterans and neurodivergent teens and adults, including individuals navigating ADHD, sensory needs, emotional regulation, trauma, anxiety, and relationship challenges. Her Grand Junction therapy space incorporates sensory and creative options that allow clients to move, regulate, create, and process in ways that work for them. In her work with couples and families, KJ helps clients explore patterns of communication, connection, conflict, and attachment while developing healthier ways of relating to one another. KJ earned her Master's in Marriage & Family Counseling from Colorado Christian University and provides services through Illuminate Play Therapy & Counseling in Grand Junction, Colorado. KJ's goal is to create a space where clients can show up as they are, better understand themselves and their relationships, and develop meaningful ways to move toward healing and connection.
